First unbolt the spider roof mounting frame and roof straps complete with the old roof still attached and remove them from the car. Your new roof panel is supplied complete with all seams and mounting pieces ready-fitted for you. Make a careful note of how the old roof is attached to the roof frame, then remove it from the frame and attach the new roof in exactly the same way. This operation can be broken down into three stages. First disassemble the front mounting and reassemble it with the front edge of the new roof in place of the old one. Check that the two centre mounting strips with their velcro fastenings align with the central bar of the frame. Now disconnect the old roof from the rear of the roof frame, remove it from the frame and connect the rear of the new roof in its place. Finally refit the frame, complete with your new roof attached, to the car. We strongly advise you to fit new roof straps if you are installing a new hood.
If you are also fitting new roof straps remember that the pitch of the two mounting studs at the rear of each roof strap may vary from the original spacing. To compensate for this you may need to elongate the mounting holes in the rear cover assembly to give extra room for adjustment. If there is insufficient tension on the roof straps when the rear cover is closed the side aligners on the straps may slip up over the edges of the roof aperture, especially when the car is being driven. If there is too much tension on the roof straps the rear cover will not latch down properly. Please read and follow the fitting instructions carefully.
