VINYL SIDE STRIPE KIT INSTALLATION
PARTS REQUIRED
MH1330 or MH1332 Side Stripe Kit
Plastic scraper/squeegee
Spray bottle containing a weak solution of washing-up liquid (2-3 drops per pint of water)
FITTING
1 – Carefully remove the Pininfarina ‘f’ badges and their rubber surrounds from the rear wings ahead of the rear wheel arches.
2 – Remove all traces of the old side stripes. Use a hot-air gun to soften the vinyl and a plastic scraper to remove it from the paintwork.
3 – Clean off any remaining adhesive using methylated spirit then thoroughly wash the paintwork, ensuring that no traces of vinyl or adhesive remain.
4 – Check that the new side stripes are perfectly flat. If necessary lay them out in a warm room overnight.
5 – Apply each of the six pieces of the kit separately. We suggest you fit the longer stripes on the door bottoms first, then align the front and rear wing pieces with them.
6 - Spray the mounting surface LIGHTLY with soapy water. Peel off the thick backing paper and expose the sticky side of the vinyl. LIGHTLY spray the sticky side of the vinyl with soapy water.
NOTE: Use soapy water LIGHTLY - if you drown the surface or the sticky vinyl adhesive too much, it won't stick. Soapy water is the fail-safe method for positioning your decal perfectly and for being able to remove air bubbles.
7 - Starting at the top edge, position the decal where you want it then slowly lay the rest of the decal down on the installation surface. If needed, gently slide the decal to the exact position you want it.
8 - Using the squeegee, gently smooth out any air or water bubbles from under the decal, working from the centre to the outside edges.
9 - Finish by peeling the clear protective tape very slowly back on itself. Don't try to pull it straight away from the surface. Ease it slowly off the decal from one end. The slow motion will allow the vinyl to stay on the surface while removing the tape. Pop any remaining bubbles (there shouldn’t be any!) with a pin and press out the air or water.
NOTE: If the vinyl decal moves, smooth it carefully back down. You may need to squeegee additional soapy water out from under the decal OR you may need to just give it a few more minutes, then try again. When you are able to remove the clear tape easily with no movement of the vinyl decal you are finished with the installation.
10 – Trim any excess material using a craft knife.
11 – Finally, refit or replace the Pininfarina ‘f’ badges and their rubber surrounds.
